First time Ive bought a monitor designed for gaming rather than just a regular monitor & everything described on the webpage has so far proven to be accurate.
Ive only had it for a week so these are just initial observations, but the picture quality is excellent & the menus cover a wide range of lighting set-ups (Im quite fussy about this as I get eye-strain quite easily if I dont have decent levels of contrast).
Otherwise, the stand is excellent – was easy to put together and feels very robust. Theres a range of positioning options and covers a…

Otherwise, the stand is excellent – was easy to put together and feels very robust. Theres a range of positioning options and covers a wide variety of heights.
I also like the left to right swivel on the base of the stand, which is very helpful rather than having to move the full thing around to position it. Would recommend if like me, you want decent quality but are on a budget.
Ive two of these & Ill most likely purchase a third. Adjusting the hight, tilt & rotation is absolutely fantastic – smooth & solid, I cannot praise that aspect enough.
The colour is fine for me & I love 144Hrz for gaming as some games tend to make me feel sick Talso Principle and such but at 144Hrz its smooth as silk.
Coupled with 1ms response time, ensures quality peace of mind gaming. Well constructed & easy to assemble. Zero dead pixels. Price is a tad high IMO.
So here i would like to review so i can help people to get an idea what they will get. I will remove any of my personal opinions and just go through the goods and bads which will effect everybody.
Amaizing quality and stylish.!!! But the good results will come after calibration. I had to get advise for the specific panel which was calibrated with advance tools.
Racing Mode: Brightness 35, Contrast 80, User Colour Red=100, Green=96, Blue=93. Those settings are very important to have if you want the 100% of the monitor.
You will need only to play with brightness if needed, depending on your preferences. For me those settings should fit any room and eye. Now the bads 🙂 1) Does not have usb intergraded like many gaming monitors do 2) The cable management on the base sucks.
Not practical at all. 3) It connects to the power with an extra adapter. I would prefer strait cable to the monitor without extra adapters. So overall a fantastic monitor with few drowbacks.
I love this monitor. Asus are an extremely reliable manufacturer and this is definitely the best low-mid budget 24″ 144hz monitor you can buy at the moment.
The 144hz works a treat with all FPS games, but dont forget that youll have to enable the 144hz in your advanced display settings and GPU settings. There are plenty of guides online, so make sure you check them out when youre setting the monitor up.
Its also definitely worth playing around with the colour profile on the monitor too. the default colours are a bit wishy-washy, so make sue you play around with them.
I settled on the following and couldnt fault it.
Splendid Mode: Standard Contrast: 75 Brightness: 65 (Increase if you prefer brighter image) Color Temperature: User (Red 96, Green 94, Blue 88) Disable SmartView and ASCR (dynamic contrast ratio) features while the ASUS VG248QE TraceFree parameter can be set to as much as you need.
However, we did notice inverse ghosting when it’s set beyond 60.
